Riodine has released the song “Judge.” The song is a combination of hip hop and rock. This is a pairing of genres not always put together, but there is good reason for it given hip hop was originally inspired by rock. Additionally, Riodine has released a visual for “Judge,” which allows listeners to listen to the song while analyzing the cover art for the song. 

The song begins with loud and upbeat drums, which makes for a powerful sound. After the drum solo, which lasts for approximately the first 20 seconds of the song, the first verse begins. The first line is “The judge is firm on his desk/The circus will happen in spite of romance.” These are certainly thought provoking lyrics, which gives listeners a good excuse to listen to the song multiple times in a row. The same goes for the album cover: the mathematical equation ‘- x – = +” is a way to write that multiplying two negatives gives a positive. Underneath, viewers will see words subbed in: lie x lie = truth. This means that Riodine sees two negatives to equal a positive, and two lies to equal a truth. The chorus is short and to the point, simply consisting of the line “The judge is in the hall.” The line is delivered surrounded by synths and the same drums that opened the song. The lyrics succeed in painting a picture for the listeners, as this song tells a story. There are even times when they give examples of what the judge would say; around midway through, one can hear someone saying “Don’t cross that line ma’am” in the stereotypical tone of a judge.

It is highly recommended one listen to the song itself first and then watch the visual for a repeat listen. This is because it gives additional clarity to the meaning of the song. Regardless of how one chooses to go about listening to “Judge,” it is certain that they will find the song to be a worthwhile listen. This is Riodine’sdebut single, and it is certainly an impressive offering. If this is any indicator, “Judge” and future releases will turn Riodine into a band with widespread appeal. 

Riodine is based in New York and Pennsylvania, and features Ed Kabatsky on vocals, guitar, and keys; Nicholas Kabatsky on piano; Alek Sleczkowski on guitar; Joseph Tindal on drums; and Justin Snyder provides vocals. Ed Kabatsky also has a solo project, Neomatik. Their music can be found on digital platforms such as Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Audius, and YouTube.
