Da Cleaver has released the song “Agua.” Based in Brentwood, New York, the hip hop artist has made a song sure to resonate with fans of rap music. Additionally, Da Cleaver has released a music video in support of “Agua.”

One way to get a general idea of what a music video might be about is by looking at the thumbnail on YouTube. In the case of “Agua,” the thumbnail features one person in an alley during the daytime. He is wearing a black shirt, which reads “Get To The Choppa.” He looks to be in the process of rapping. The music video to “Agua” begins with a rapid fire shot of the street pavement, which leads to seeing one person from Da Cleaver standing on the road. Shortly thereafter, the camera pans to another member of Da Cleaver. By the beginning of the first verse, viewers are seeing what is shown in the YouTube thumbnail. 

The song itself begins with synths and heavy base, before launching into the first line: “Another roll of the dice increases my chances.” This is an optimistic way to look at life, as there are oftentimes decisions that need to be made, and a lot of luck must be involved in good fortunes. With this opening lyric, “Agua” is immediately relatable. He goes on to get spiritual, rapping “Only the creator knows.” This is in reference to God having a plan, even if one does not always know what that plan may be. He also makes a reference to New York, rapping “At the top of the Empire State Building planking” shortly after showing a street sign for a street named New York Ave. Additionally, he acknowledges his own rapping with the line “next line more severe than the last/next one another fireball lighting up my path.” This implies he sees his future, and God’s plan for him, being to spread his message through rap. He is aware that he has a gift for rapping, something listeners will surely come to recognize for themselves. 

The vocal melody to “Agua” is mostly repetitive, which allows listeners to be able to remember the melody after just one play. It also allows listeners to focus on the lyrics without getting distracted by too many melody changes. After all, the highlight of “Agua” is far and away its lyrics and Da Cleaver’s flawless flow. It is a mid-tempo rap song, and it is easy to make out every word that comes out of his mouth.
