1. What
made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
First, thanks for having me. I learned to play guitar as a teenager, once I was
in college, my best friend and I started a band called Feka. The band was
pretty popular on the hardcore underground scene, once the band broke, I
realized I can do something beyond that, then I formed other band on 2003
called Neuttro. A lot of exposure, big stages, radio airplays etc. I got sick
on 2009, and I start to make music on my computer using Fruity Loops and other
programs, and the music was pretty good. I realized that I was wasting my time
in bands, then I went full power
producing my own music. There is almost no money on this, but is a
irreplaceable pleasure, that’s what made me jump into Cirex (my name backwards)
2. What do
you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists
in your genre of music?
Hard question.
I do not know, but I felt what I deliver is very different from all things I
have heard so far.
3. If you
could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
Uff!!! I would
love to collaborate with Robi Draco Rosa, we follow each other on social media. Other
artist is Lajon from Sevendust, we follow each other on social media as well.
Both have unique voices, are very talented.
4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
Advantage, you control your own music, you release what you want, and all the royalties from Spotify, youtube etc goes to your pocket. The disadvantage? I would say less exposure on the Big Media, TV, Radio etc… but hey, Internet is the new radio and TV 😉
5. Do you
prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label,
and why?
Independent
route. Actually two labels offer me to sign but I rejected, because the
condition were not that good for me. That’s why I have no music on Beatport
(you need a Label to get there)
6. Out of
all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
I think my
recent EP ‘Interplate’. Is very solid, has drum and bass, with some industrial
and dubstep. I recorded in a period of 9 months. Is available on al digital
plattforms.
7. Do you
miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming? Explain…
The CD ERA!!!!
Even when you give your demos on a CD-R with written on a Sharpie. I remember
with Neuttro we release 5,000 CD’s, and was on almost every music store in
Puerto Rico, it was a great sensation when you go to the music store and see
your product on display. Also, Digital like Spotfy only pay you 3 cents for
each full play. So, your efforts are not recompensed.
8. Between
creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most
enjoyable one and why?
Both! I miss
being on a stage, but I always feel the good sensation of the crowd etc. On the
other side, creating is enjoyable! I spent hours creating.
9. During
your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your
Worst experience?
Since in Puerto Rico, trap and reggaeton dominates, electronic musicians are
not respected, because (for the press) there is no Market. All my fans are
over-seas.
10. What
would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music
career, so far?
Man, this would
sound silly, but the first movie of Taken, they used 7 seconds of my music.
Always makes me proud. (Scene: “The Construction site”)
11. If any,
what discourages you the Most about music industry these days?
Everything that
entertains is called music. Even the pop music from the 80’s and 90’s, their
top 40’s , were good songs. Now you see a lot of trap and Reggeaton music , as
“”pop””. I really hate thath.
12. What
inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?
Go against the
trend, simple as that J
13. If you
wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing
with your life instead?
I studied
‘History’ on college, maybe a history teacher?? , I love History. If not,
working on some Manufacturer.
14. In your
own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?
Ok, there is a
big ‘Rock’ scene , which is good!! There is also ‘trova’ , ‘hip hop’, but what
dominates as I said is reggaeton.
15. What is
your latest release and where fans can find it?
Interplate, is
a 8 song EP and is available everywhere. All the digital links are here:

16. What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2020?
I will release 2 or 3 more singles in summer (or before summer). I am collaborating with Hail Sagan, Danny Diablo for their respective releases.. Maybe another EP but that’s for 2021.
