- What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
I have always had a passion and love for the arts. Music in particular has been a big part of my life from the elementary school days. I didn’t get into the business with the sole intent of earning lots of money, although that would be a nice bonus. I believe if you ask most musicians it is really a passion for playing, creating and some attention for the work one has put into their music. - What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
I try to blend sounds from multiple genres of music. Certainly, my vocals are unique, as are the chords and rhythms I use. We all are influenced by other artists in some way so uniquely, that we’re always paying tribute to someone that has had an influence on what we do. - If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
I would love a collaboration with Daryl Hall. We both have a soulful approach to writing. Also Donald Fagen, his writing style has such a jazz and soul mix. - What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
The obvious is creative freedom is a tremdous advantage. Disadvantage I suppose is finding ways to earn a sufficient income as an indie artist, but really not a huge downside. Most of us as I stated earlier, do this for reasons of passion and enjoyment. - Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
Good question. I like being an independent artist. I would be open to working with a major label simply for more exposure and access to such great talent. But again it’s not a critical part of our strategy. - Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
I would say a song called “Simple Life”. It’s really how we live and think the opening line says it all. ” Gonna buy a one way ticket to the simple life.” - Do you miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming? Explain… I loved the idea of people going to the records stores and looking at the album art when buying it. It was almost a social event. I also feel like it created a close bond between the artist and fan. We would have to get up and drive or walk to the store . Spend time looking for the record we wanted. Streaming is a way of to reach lots of people and can be very good. I suppose I strill lean toward the record store days.
- Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
I really enjoy both . The studio is creating in a more controlled environment, but playing live offers the interaction and energy of the audience. Both are powerful in different ways. - During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?
Keeping band mates focused and pushing in the same direction for long periods of time. - What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
I was driving to Georgia and was stopped at a redlight while passing thru a small town. The car next to me was playing one of my songs really loud. Amazing feeling!! - If any, what discourages you the Most about music industry these days?
So much of music is about the business of music and we have lost some of art and beauty that comes out of that. Look its the same thing that ended the Beatles it was the business of the industry that led to the demise and breakup of 4 really good friends, brothers. - What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?
I see more artists getting noticed that didnt have a label at some point. Cairo and Grimes and others certainly making a statement. - If you wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead? I would be a fishing guide and would produce my own lures. Those who know me are quite aware of my love of fishing and boating.
- In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?
Quite good ! Excellent muscians and plenty of places to hear live music. One of my favorite local bands is the Jelly Bricks, love their work! - What is your latest release and where fans can find it?
My latest release is called “Slow Down” it will be available October 27, 2023 . It will be streaming on all digital platforms and available on our website : www.kingsofcarlislekoc.com - What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2023/24?
I have plans to release more songs in the upcoming year and will add some live shows into the mix for 2024. Looking forward to an exciting and fun 2024!
