1. What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
I’ve been in the music industry since the late eighties growing up on the road with rock bands since I was 19 years old. I started taking piano lessons when I was just 8 years old and then later while touring with the other band members, picked up the ability to play other instruments as well. I cut my first “45” record in 1986 with my lead singer Todd Mcdowell playing keys on his first release “Hollywood Rose”
2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
Well, to be honest there are not many true rock bands out there producing new music. I feel like the genre of rock and metal need to remain on the forefront in our industry and not drift off into obscurity. We have a unique sound that has been described as a type of Grunge Metal but we actually have a new ballad coming out soon as well. So we want to stay genre neutral with a hint of rock sprinkled in there.
3. If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
Chris Cornell, Steve Walsh, Nancy Wilson all amazing vocalists with talent that knows no bounds. Just to have stood on stage with them in any capacity would have been a dream.
4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
In today’s world we can use many markets to share our music. It’s not a competition and there are no winners we can just share things and people can like them or not. I don’t take it personal if someone hates on my song, I just keep writing, because I’m passionate about the craft.
The disadvantage is the same. Once you put it out there, get ready for the haters. They are always lurking about to give you their expert criticism and that’s all part of our business.
5. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
Well, since I am a one man band that does all of the music and vocals for my fictitious band which is Moan Barrow, I focus 50% of my time on scoring movies. I just finished the score for a documentary thriller named “Holes in the Sky” that will be released this fall, so I would rather see my music scoring company which is moanbarrowproductions.com get signed than my band music.
6. Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
“Been here before” is my personal favorite, but “Ghost” has definitely received the most plays on YouTube.
7. Do you miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming? Explain…
I miss everything from the 90’s including CD’s. I feel like going to the record store and digging through a library of CD’s was the fun part. Like so many other things in life, downloading a stream seems much less authentic and non-personal.
8. Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
After years of playing on stage in Rock bands in my 20’s and now working in my studio at Moan Barrow Productions LLC, I loved them both equally, only today at 53, this is much better than loading JBL 4560 speaker cabinets back in to the van at 3am in December after we finished a gig.
9. During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?
Tearing apart a Yamaha DX7 keyboard after a 3 hour performance to clean the sensors after a fog machine tortured it all night and the keys quit responding.
10. What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
Finishing my movie 2 hour score for “Holes in the Sky” as I have many friends in the film and production staff.
11. If any, what discourages you the Most about music industry these days?
Copycat pop music that is all DAW and not authentic. Please stop.
12. What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?
New bands that don’t sell out and stick to their passion no matter what genre it is.
13. If you wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?

14. In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?
Sad, but that’s not to say there is not talent, out there, I just miss Rock music.
15. What is your latest release and where fans can find it?
“Never Again” can be found on YouTube and most streaming platforms.
