1. What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
Like most artists I started out freestyling on corners, cafeteria cyphers, etc. For the longest time it was just something to do to kill time. I was always pretty good even back then but never took music seriously. I didn’t jump straight into the music business out the gate. I started out in the music business behind the scenes doing club/party promos and one day it hit me that I can do this myself. So I then made my first mixtape and been going in ever since.
2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
That’s a good question. I would have to say the fact that I don’t sound exactly like anyone else. My cadence, metaphors and the rawness I bring to the game. When you hear me you can feel that I speak with conviction and passion because I take my career seriously. I’m making some of the best music out hands down.
3. If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
I would work with Jay Z, 2Chainz, Rick Ross and a few others. I feel as though these are some of the most creative and original artists out. Each one has a similar background to myself and I really respect their styles. I think we’d make some dope records that would stand the tests of time.
4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
The biggest advantage is the ability to record what I want, when I want and to release it when I’m ready. The downside is that I don’t have that major label marketing and promotional push.
5. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
I think independent is the way to go nowadays, unless the right label situation/partnership presents itself and then I would entertain signing a major deal. This industry is all about who has the most leverage.
6. Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
My best song in my opinion is Keep Pushin, but that’s a personal favorite. The reason being is because it’s more of reflecting on past events that molded me into the man I am versus just being a song. I talk about my father who passed away when I was still a kid, going through the struggle, almost dying in a bad car accident. Like I said, it’s very personal and full of personal experiences that actually happened.
7. Do you miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming? Explain…
I do miss the cd era because that’s the era I came up in. The streaming era is cool, but cd era gave artists the chance to really connect with the people and that’s something you don’t get with the streaming era.
8. Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
I love the creative process of recording, there’s nothing like it. At the same time there’s nothing like performing either. Performing gives you the opportunity to really express yourself visually and there’s nothing like the energy of being onstage. It’s like a runner’s high, or hitting the lotto.
9. During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?
I don’t think I’ve had a “worst experience” and like the late great Pimp C once said, “The game is cold, but it’s gravy.” You have to take the good and the bad with this music business. Plus it helps build character. A lot of people think they will just drop one song and blow up overnight. Truth is you’ll more than likely need a personal therapist if you make music long enough because trying to be successful in it will drain you mentally, spiritually and financially. You have to be built for this game to survive.
10. What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
I released my first album Trap Bible 100% independent recently. It’s by far my best body of work to date with all original beats and content. The production is crazy and I have some dope features from some of the hottest artists from South Carolina.
11. If any, what discourages you the Most about music industry these days?
The fact that most other artists sound just alike.
12. What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?
The fact that I have full creative control of my music and can release what I want, when I want.
13. If you wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
If I hadn’t started making music, I’d probably be dead or in jail. Aside from that I love to create and I’m a graphic designer/videographer/photographer.
14. In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?
DC has a decent music scene from what I can tell. There’s a few really good artists from the area I rock with. Other than that I still rock with my fellow South Carolina artists heavy.
15. What is your latest release and where fans can find it?
My latest release is my album Trap Bible. It’s available worldwide on every major platform. Go check that out.
16. What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2021?
I’m going to be releasing a lot more visuals and plan to drop some big singles amongst other things. I always have something going on so stay tuned!
