I like to write music, and I like it when people hear my music and enjoy it. It’s cathartic, and then the response from others is connective. It’s human. I can’t say much about the “music industry.” The word “industry” is overly and improperly used.
2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
There are a million other amazing artists out there doing equal or better work than I do. How do I stand out among them? I don’t. That’s too removed of a perspective than I’d deem respectful. I say spend time up-close with each individual artist, listen intently, and support each that you like with the praise you think it deserves. That’s what a playlist is.
3. If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
Travis Barker. That’s been my go-to response lately, but he’s on a roll and I admire he work ethic.
4. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
My gut says I think labels are dying. What can one offer me besides money? I don’t know. Labels may bring you to the limelight quicker, but I think there are lessons to be learned doing the job of an independent musician. It is quite literally a job. And it doesn’t pay right away. Oftentimes it never does.
5. During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?
College. I went to school for “music business,” and though I don’t regret it (I met my girlfriend there and made lots of great friends), I think it opened my eyes to college being the single biggest scam run on American children. That’s a different topic, but like I said, “industry” is a misnomer. Anyone that tries to tell you there is such thing as a “music industry” is probably trying to siphon your money or stay employed.
6. What is your latest release and where fans can find it?
