1. What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
I’ve always been a huge hiphop fan and messed around with freestyling and writing in high school. My older brother started recording music and taught me how to write and got me in the studio. Now lyrics just always run through my mind.
2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
What makes me stand out is the fact I am 100% me. I am always trying to be me and have no desire to be like the next artist, or an artist who has already made it. I put passion in my lyrics and rap about concepts that fit me.
3. If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
If I could collaborate with any artist, it would be Kyle without a doubt. I’ve been listening to Kyle for about 8 years now and he is my favorite artist. I met him at a show and could tell he is a genuine person and the song making process would be enjoyable.
4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
The biggest advantage about being an indie artist is having full creative control. I do not have to answer to someone who is only worried about the money and doesn’t care about my passion. My biggest disadvantage is the lack of opportunities. I don’t have the same connections as someone from a record label would have.
5. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
I prefer to stay an Indie artist because I enjoy having creative control. I also like working on my time and not being rushed. I am also very self-motivated and being able to grow connections myself is a great experience.
6. Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
I believe my song “Drippin’” is my best song released. I believe this because I show my versatility on my two verses. The hook is also very catchy and the song is hype af.
7. Do you miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming? Explain…
I do miss the era of CD sales but I am a big supporter of the new wave of music streaming. I miss the nostalgic feel of being able to hold the CD after buying it and listening for the first time on the CD player, but the new wave of streaming is way more convenient for listeners. I prefer listening to music on my cell phone and enjoy the fact my music is available no matter where I am.
8. Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
The most enjoyable one for me would be performing live on stage. This is because it’s a Big Time Rush that you can’t get from anything else. When I am on stage, I can just let loose and have fun. The rush from seeing the crowd go crazy because of your music and how you hold yourself on stage is breath taking.
9. During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?
I have not encountered too many tough experiences during my journey thus far. The worst part so far is probably other local artist talking down on me at the beginning
10. What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
The most successful moment would be my two co-headline concerts. Both of these concerts were at sunshine studios in Colorado Springs.
11. If any, what discourages you the Most about music industry these days?
The most discouraging thing about the music industry would be the ability to change yourself to blow up. You can blow up for doing dumb things and not being real. I pride myself on being real and not needing to change. Trends blow up, not talent.
12. What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?
What inspires me is the fact there are still some real artist. Artist that put music out with meaning. Music that touches the soul and helps people get through day to day life. I hope to help the world with my music and inspire people to follow their dreams.
13. If you wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
If I wasn’t in the music industry I would be building a clothing brand. Before I started making music I started a clothing company called “A Mile Up”. Once I started making music clothing took a backseat and I let A Mile Up go.
14. In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?
Right now the local scene in Colorado Springs is growing. There are a handful of good artist we just do not have the platform. With the right exposure Colorado Springs could definitely be on the map.
15. What is your latest release and where fans can find it?
My latest release is Drippin’. Its feat. Dipper and can be found on all platforms (besides SoundCloud) under Yung Pyramid.
16. What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2020?
There is a lot planned for 2020. My group SouthOfHell will be dropping a lot of singles the rest of the year. We will be working on multiple eps from different combinations of 2 members each ep. On my solo page, Yung Pyramid, I will be releasing an EP titled “Cloud Nine”. The date for the ep is still TBD. I will also be releasing singles with features from other locals, and maybe some outta state artist.
