StreetWave Media presents an exclusive interview with Country/Rock band, Justin Wright and The Dirty Strings located in Dyersburg, Tennessee.  After our interview, check out the website linked below…

1. What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?

The love and appreciation for music. It serves as a therapy and well as a way of expression

2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?

my love for multiple genres and finding a way to mold them together to create a unique sound and style is one way. Another is the energy and passion that is exhibited during live performances

3. If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?

If I had the ability to work with anyone through out the history of music it would be Prince

4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?

I think the biggest advantage is the freedom of expression and the ability have artistic control. The biggest disadvantage to me would be the amount of resources to get your product out there.

5. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?

I prefer the Indy route because as a singer songwriter I like to have the final say so as it pertains to what is being produced and distributed. I also like the ability to retain artistic control and flexibility in who I collaborate with as well as where I play

6. Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?

I believe our latest release, “A Fatal Attraction” is. The song is roughly four minutes long and despite that paints a picture of a story that is normally reserved for a 2hr Hollywood movie.

7. Do you miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming?  Explain…

As a songwriter I feel the CD sales era is the one I prefer. Due to the fact that songwriters were compensated and monetized in a much more fair way for their efforts.

8. Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?

I get the most enjoyment out of performing live.

9. During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?

A fellow musician, who I am now friends with, was quite outspoken about me being egotistical and arrogant. All he ever saw was the ME on stage. He didn’t come to realize that confidence is something that need to manifest itself in artist if they want to be successful. Quite frankly I don’t feel I have and issue with being so self centered. The experience of confronting the artist about it was extremely uncomfortable and not a great experience.

10. What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?

Releasing our debut single and it hitting #1 on an Indy chart right out of the box is the proudest moment. This is because of all the hard work me, my band mates and management team to get to that point.

11. If any, what discourages you the Most about music industry these days?

I feel that independent songwriters are often not fairly compensated for their contributions.

12. What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?

The success of artist whose music resonates in multiple genres. Many artist are seeing great success by what’s considered blurring and crossing lines. People are starting to appreciate music as a whole, not putting music in a box but simply recognizing good music as a whole.

13. If you wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?

have a background in business development and marketing. I would see myself in some for of capacity that highlights those skills I have e acquired.

14. In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?

It is a melting pot, a mixed bag if you will. This fosters diversity and inclusion of a lot of different genres. Songwriters are generating great songs and it creates a beautiful opportunity for collaboration.

15. What is your latest release and where fans can find it?

The latest release is called, “ A Fatal Attraction” it is available on most all Streaming platforms.

16. What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2024?

We are currently in talks with numerous music festivals and artist to do shows with. Our scope of where we tour is broadening. Hopefully that will give us an opportunity to play to a lot more people who don’t know us and our music.
