1. What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
Music is something I was drawn to and excelled at early on in life. I always saw it as the greatest way to communicate ur feelings to the masses and capture a feeling, emotion or period in time. I was always inspired by the greats and always saw a position for myself in the industry early. It’s what came most natural to me.
2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
I don’t spend much time thinking about it, but naturally all of our stories and perspectives are gonna differ slightly based on personal experiences. I believe you’ll always stand out tho when you’re true to yourself and your journey. THAT can’t b duplicated.
3. If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
I would definitely wanna work with Drake, and I’ve always wanted to do somethin with Lauryn Hill and Charlie Wilson. I say Drake mainly for sport. I feel like he’s the Michael Jordan of music right now. On the quest to be great I think it’s natural to wanna compete amongst other greats. Lauryn and Charlie have always embodied what I consider soul. So that would be special.
4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
The advantage is the hands on experience and financial gain, the disadvantage is smaller reach and just doing everything yourself. It would take a lot for me to trade the freedom for a major tho.
5. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
The internet definitely changed the game as far indie or major. The major deal is just no longer a necessity.
6. Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
My favorite song to date would probably be, “Tax Free”. The beat was produced by one of my favorite producers out of my city @KanielTheOne and the blend of content and bop is to my liking. Anytime I’m able to get a solid point across in a catchy fashion I’m pleased. Second would probably have to be “Freak Tonight” I feel like I took one of my favorite R. Kelly songs and bodied it.
7. Do you miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming? Explain…
I definitely prefer this new era. I feel like the cd era was over policed and stunted the growth of what were some potentially great artist. I’m all about freedom of artistry and I feel like this era promotes that.
8. Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
I can’t really compare performing live and recording. For me it’s apples and oranges. Recording in the studio is more intimate and all about me and my art. Creating my vision. The live shows are more of a rush for sure and presents the challenge of encouraging the people to engage, so to me it’s more about the listener and just sharing the vision which I’ve created. I definitely need both for sure.
9. During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?
My absolute worst experience in the industry has been dealing with people such as engineers and producers who have the power to slow up your progress. That’s why I think the more you’re capable of, as an artist, the higher your ceiling will be. The internet has also put a large emphasis on diy capabilities.
10. What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
So far I’d have to say inspiring other artists and watching them on their own marathons is what I’m probably most proud of. I was taught that when you invest in PEOPLE, there’s no limit on your return.
11. If any, what discourages you the Most about music industry these days?
I honestly don’t have a problem with anything going on in the industry frfr. I feel like there’s a place for everybody. I might not fuck with it personally, but that’s irrelevant imo.
12. What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?
What inspires me most is the direct from artist to consumer relationships and how soon music can go from studio straight to digital platforms. I think sometimes we take that shit for granted.
13. If you wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
Same things I’m doing now honestly. Striving for wealth, pursuing business ventures and acting for sure. That’s something you’ll be able to see a lot more of in the near future.
14. In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?
Locally we’re reaching new heights with artist like Amine, Wynn, Tyus, Cassow, JR Patton, Eso.Xo.Supreme, T $poon, Mic Capes, Prxscott and the list goes on, spearheading the movement. Dame D.O.L.L.A also has taken it upon himself to show a lot of love locally since becoming a Trailblazer. I honestly love where we are and feel like the best is yet to come. I think we’re the next region on the brink of cracking the flood gates.
15. What is your latest release and where fans can find it?
My latest single is entitled “Tax Free” and it’s out now on all digital platforms. It’s produced by platinum producer @kanielTheOne and the visual will be dropping real soon.
16. What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2020?
2020 expect more features and freestyles on my YouTube channel. My first full length studio release, “I Owe You” should be ready summer of 2021 and there’s a few others ventures you’ll just have to be on the look out for.
